Aqua Dots Contain GHA – Date Rape Drug

I’m sure many of you have seen the Aqua Dots commercials on tv in the last few months. Not only were the toy Aqua Dots recalled recently for having a dangerous chemical component, but they are now said to contain GHA which is classified as a date rape drug. Reports came in earlier this month that children became unconscious, vomited and had to be hospitalized after swallowing the beads in the Aqua Dots kit. The Aqua Dots company is advising that consumers take the toy away from children and “return them for free replacement beads” or for a toy of equal value.

I’d suggest you send it back and tell them “No, thanks”.

You can find more information about the Aqua Dots recall from the company itself here: http://www.aquadotsrecall.com

Added: CNN Money named Aqua Dots number 2 of the 12 Best Toys of 2007 before the recall was announced.  Also, parents rehash the frightening episode when their 20 month old swallowed the toy and became unconscious.  (Why does a 20 month old have access to tiny pellets?  Not sure.)
