My 7 year old modelling the pyjamas and his favorite part – thumb holes! Super comfy!

I have introduced you to Simply Merino in the past.  This line continues to be one of my favorites and my kids love the comfy pyjamas!  If you’ve never explored merino wool as a clothing option I recommend it.  Both my boys have sets of the thermal pyjamas and they are so soft and comfy for them without being too warm.  These are perfect layering pieces for snowy days or out on the hills sledding and skiing.  But they also function great as comfortable pyjamas or under clothes.  Girls can wear them as leggings in the colder months under skirts.

But they carry a great line of other items that I think would make beautiful gifts for new moms like their Infant Gowns and Baby Sleepers.   So soft and cuddly without trapping in heat like fleece can do.  They also carry these really cute and SOFT toque hats for kids.  Simply Merino sent each of my boys one in the Heather Gray color and they just love them.  They keep their ears covered on the brisk windy days we’ve had and they are super soft.  I wish they had adult sizes!  The best part is all of the merino wool clothing and accessories are machine washable – I’ve washed them and dried them and they don’t shrink or warp.

Why Merino Wool? It is a natural and durable material that is perfect for children’s clothing and sleepwear. Due to the nature of the wool fibers, they take a beating without suffering much wear and tear.  I’ve washed and dried ours hundreds of times without noticing any deterioration.  They remain soft and cuddly.  Merino wool also provides a comfortable way to regular body heat, which is especially important with babies who can’t quite do that as well as we can.  Polyester and synthetic materials trap heat against babies skin while soft merino wool provides more of a temperature controlled “cocoon” around them allowing them to sleep better.   It all sounds good but is that really the case? I believe so.  My kids are “hot” sleepers so when I go in to do my last nightly checks, they can sometimes be sweaty and have all their blankets tossed around.  When they are wearing their Simply Merinos to bed, they sleep a little less fitfully.  Merino wool is also a more sustainable material which is always an environmental plus.

Simply Merino continues to be a great supporter of SafeMama.com so I encourage you to support them! Their clothing is superb and beautiful and makes a great gift or just as a treat for a kid you love.  Simply Merino has provided my readers with a 15% off shopping discount good on your purchase through June 15, 2013!  Enter code “safemama” at check out for your 15% discount.
