Koala Pals Toothbrushes and Tooth Gels are available with and without flouride. They are all natural and have xylitol. My kids love them! They have no cavities and love to brush!

Thanks Joanne (an others) for the extra recommendations... my concern is with an ingredient in some of the "natural" toothpastes and other skin care products called Cocamidopropyl Betaine. It's found in MANY natural products but has been found by the EWG to sometimes be contaminated with carcinogenic nitrosamines. It also rates a 5 in the Skin Deep database.

While they've cleaned up the ingredients in this toothpaste in recent years, I don't feel comfortable recommending it, 1) if you break down the ingredients, you'll find two high hazard ingredients, propylene glycol and silicone dioxide. 2). We always tell our readers to avoid propylene glycol. While propylene glycol is supposedly safe to eat, it's a penetration enhancer, as well as antifreeze (they use it as a plane deicer, so the fact that they put this stuff in food and cosmetics too, well, it's just icky).

According to the Skin Deep database, the Gerber Grins & Giggles Infant Tooth & Gum Cleanser is only rated as a 2. How does it compare to the others listed here? We have been using a Gerber toothbrush with the accompanying Tooth & Gum cleanser. I am curious how this and the Gerber toothbrush stack up...

Do you know which of those toothpastes have xylitol? I haven't had any luck finding fluoride free toothpastes for kids that include xylitol.

Another toothpaste to look into is Tate's Natural Miracle Toothpaste. It is fluoride, Sulfate, paraben, artificial sweetner free. It is not a specific kids paste but it has a very mild flavor and 100% natrual. It even removed coffee stains off my teeth. My niece who hates "spicy" toothpaste even liked it.

Just a note about Tom's of Maine....they make multiple formulations that are SLS free. I use one formulation and I have a different one for my daughter - neither one have SLS in them. There is also a lemon-lime one by Tom's we've used before that doesn't have SLS, which is the flavor my kids prefer over the mint flavors.

Another toothbrush that is BPA free and 100% recyclable is the Totz brush by Radius. I found it at Whole Foods around Christmas and I love it for my 2 year old. It is wider and has shorter bristles to get in that tiny mouth well. We were using the preserve toothbrush, but the bristles were too long to get up under his lip and he hated for me to brush. We have no fusses with this kind and they are very inexpensive.
