Clean GeorgeI’m often accused of being overly critical of product ingredients.  People write in to me saying things like “What am I supposed to use now… MUD?“.  I swear I’m not analyzing every ingredient in products to make your life difficult.  But the more we discover about chemicals the more natural the products I prefer become.  Are you going to die immediately if you use a product with Phenoxyethanol in it?  Probably not.  But I’m finding that more purely natural products are out there and available to us.

A good example is Clean George!  I fell for Clean George a while back when looking into hand cleansers and sanitizers.  What I discovered is that alcohol based hand sanitizers kill both bad and good germs on your skin making you more susceptible to the very things that make you sick.  We need to practice good hand washing habits and when we can’t use a hand cleanser that can clean and protect your hands until you can.  Using Tea Tree oil, which has antibacterial properties is used to clean off the icky without harming the good stuff that helps keep you healthy (and soft).  Not to mention alcohol based hand sanitizers can be dangerous to little kids (especially if they decide to eat it).

Clean George is natural, alcohol free and comes in 3 scents: Lovin’ Lavender, Mint-alyptus, and Grapefruit n’ Sage and is packaged in 100% post consumer recycled plastic.

    Hairspray! I’d like to add that I am so over seeing the icky chemical filled hand sanitizer in the stores: endcaps/counters. Of course I have been tempted to buy them thinking, I should really use something (besides a wipe) for my 18m old and myself. Playground and Store Germs and not to mention Swine Flu and all. I’d love to try Clean George!!

    Well, as others have said – Hairspray. The site also mentions the L.A. cast of “Wicked” using Clean George – anyone want to play a game and find that reference too? ;-)
    I have to try this stuff! I admit we end up using the alcohol-based stuff more often than I’d like, due to lacks of sinks when we’re out. Sigh. Although I do manage to stay away from triclosan and the benzy-whatever chloride(?) ingredient.
