Got another e-mail from Toys”R”Us and thought I’d share with everyone. (I know I’ve been quiet recently, but that will hopefully change soon.)

Dear Valued Guest,

We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer. Here at Toys”R”Us, Inc., we continue to work hard to ensure we are doing everything possible to help you keep your children safe. And so, it is with great pleasure that I share the news that our company is partnering with Safe Kids Worldwide, the world’s leading childhood injury prevention organization, to provide parents and caregivers with valuable information about keeping kids safe during times when they are at most risk of accidental injuries.

Working with Safe Kids Worldwide, we will create comprehensive childhood safety campaigns to help educate parents about injury prevention. Our initial efforts will focus on:

  • Summer Safety: Ride-on toys, water, backyard, bicycle and street safety
  • Baby Safety: Childproofing the home, and tub and crib safety
  • Halloween Safety: Safety tips for choosing costumes and trick-or-treating
  • Holiday Toy Safety: Gift selection, proper assembly and safe play tips for the holiday season
  • Travel Safety: Car seat and child passenger safety and tips for childproofing unfamiliar places

With school out for the summer, kids of all ages are taking to backyards, streets, pools, and parks, as they try to savor every moment of fun in the sun. For important ways you can keep your kids safe during these not-so-lazy days of summer, I invite you to take a look at our summer safety tips (click here to view now). These, and other safety tips, will be available year-round on our dedicated Safety Website: www.Toysrus.com/Safety.

We are proud to partner with Safe Kids Worldwide, an organization that has contributed significantly to a decline in the number of childhood injuries and deaths by educating parents and caregivers about potential risks and dangers. They share in our commitment to the safety of children and families.

We hope that our Safety website continues to be a valuable resource for you as a parent or caregiver. Please check back often for additional information on keeping children safe.

On behalf of the “R”Us family, I wish you a safe and happy summer.

Gerald L. Storch
Chairman and CEO
Toys”R”Us, Inc.

I’m going to reserve comments until I take a closer look at the site they’ve set up. But at least they appear to be making an effort.
