The good folks over at one of my favorite resources, Healthy Child Healthy World were kind enough to send us a preview of their new book, appropriately titled Healthy Child Healthy World. I was really excited to read this book, even though I knew that parts of it would probably send me into a tailspin of anxiety because that’s how I am. I also knew I didn’t want to walk around with the wool over my eyes.

I liken Healthy Child Healthy World (both the organization and the book) to what I strive for Safe Mama to be, a resource, and an informational tool for helping a person make decisions on what’s best for them and their family. The book is just that. It’s well put together, thoroughly organized, and also eye-opening. I like to think that I’m a pretty informed parent. But even I found things in this book that I had no idea about. Insert that anxiety I talked about, here.

No, not really. One of the other great things about this book is the contributions from not only experts but celebrities. And while, I generally don’t really care too much about what celebrities do with their lives, It was nice to read that they weren’t perfect either, like the fact that Courtney Cox still uses Windex. Even small changes make an impact and everyone has to do what works for them because it’s obvious you can’t have your green non-toxic house shielded in a big bubble. Although, I do find myself salivating over the latest eco-friendly housewares.

I think everyone should have a copy of this book. It’s a great go-to guide, and especially great for new parents. I certainly wish that I had this book before my son was born.
