Funny when I emailed Avent about any plans to come out with glass or BPA free bottles they replied with their standard "BPA has been proven to be safe for human use". I hope companies start to go the way of Nalgene and realize that consumers just will no longer buy their products and maybe loss of money will influence a change.

Yes, it's all pretty confusing (and soooo frustrating for busy parents). Thank you for the great work you do to clarify everything!

Thanks for mentioning that, Janelle. For the sake of "quick and dirty" I didn't mention it, as it seems to really confuse people. But it's worth discussing further for sure.

I've covered the #7 plastic topic in the past but perhaps we all need a refresher course!

Most Tupperware is polypropylene (#5) which is a safer plastic, but I have read that a few pieces are polycarbonate. You're best off calling the company.

Also, FYI - just looking for the number 7 isn't so simple anymore because it denotes the "other" category of plastic, not simply polycarbonate. It used to be mostly polycarbonate, but now many bio-plastics are labeled with the 7, as well. Again, unless it's the 7 with the letters PC, you might want to call the manufacturer.

Apparently, we not only need better chemical regulation, we also need better labeling and full disclosure.
