I’ve been looking to replace my water bottle for awhile. I had been using a used glass Voss bottle in the interim, after getting rid of my giant plastic cup, given to me at the hospital when I had my son. I didn’t know if it had BPA in it, I didn’t care. It’s better to be safe, than sorry. When I went grocery shopping the other night, on one of my 8 million weekly trips to Whole Foods, I found an end cap of Sigg bottles. They didn’t have much of a design selection (read: something pink and girly to feed into my pink obsession), but I snagged one anyway. I got one similar in design to this, but in blue. I have to say, I’m digging this bottle. The bottle itself is pretty light in design, but not flimsy. It holds 32 ounces, which means you don’t have to refill it as much. The top is cool, since it allows you to loop a hook or something through it, though, it can be a pain to have to screw and unscrew it every time you want to take a drink. It keeps the water cooler if you keep the cap on it, otherwise, I don’t think it keeps it cool long enough.
I do like it though, and at $20, it’s not that much more than a Bisphenol laden Nalgene.
Edited to Add: Several people have asked about the lining of this particular bottle. Their liner is made of aluminum, which they do disclose, and has been tested thoroughly to meet and exceed FDA standards. You can download the pdf here, as well as any other FAQ’s you might have regarding Sigg’. Further information on Wikipedia states that the liner is a highly flexible food compatible stove enamel, which is resistant to cracking.

I love mine- the same bottle in red. I like that it’s lightweight and water tastes like water, not plastic. My only complaint is that it dents easily.
I’m also a fan of the Klean Kanteen for big people. No fun designs yet (supposedly coming within the year), but great for the purpose. Main difference (other than flash) is it is stainless steel, not coated aluminum (like Sigg). That didn’t sway my decision any (Sigg has thoroughly tested the coating on the aluminum so as not to make it an issue), I just found my Klean Kanteen at an an outdoor outfitting store and liked the feel of it (a little more narrow than the 32oz Sigg). We have both the Sigg and Klean Kanteen for little people and love them both!
Great post Statia. We recently retired our Nalgenes here at Dr.MOZ’s studio and you’ll now see a Sigg everywhere you turn!

I am also a big, big fan of the Sigg bottles.
I just got rid of my entire family’s set of nalgene bottles and replaced them with Sigg bottles. Well, that was an expensive trip to the grocery store but worth it. I feel better about the water that we are all drinking…the water tastes great and I’m not generating more plastic waste by buying tons of bottled water.
i heard from a rei sales rep that sigg bottles have a coating on the inside and that the sigg co. won’t disclose what that is made of…is that true? i bought the camelbak bottle instead!
Nicole, As I’m not a rep from Sigg, I wouldn’t know for sure, however, like Katrina stated above, we do know that their liner is made of aluminum, which they do disclose, and has been tested thoroughly to meet and exceed FDA standards. You can download the pdf here, as well as any other FAQ’s you might have regarding Sigg’. Further information on Wikipedia states that the liner is a highly flexible food compatible stove enamel, which is resistant to cracking.
