I’m not shy about my total love and adoration of the folks behind Z Recommends. They review toys and products and in the last couple years have become an invaluable hub of research and information surrounding Bisphenol-A in baby products. They’ve posted very comprehensive reports in the past and have done a new and improved Third Edition on BPA in Infant Care Products which they published last week. If you are here on this site perusing the information on BPA please do go visit their site and look through their report. They’ve spent countless hours calling the companies to gather information so it’s a really worthy read.
They also published today a guest review of five BPA Free baby bottles which is a great perspective on these new products. I urge you to hop over there and give that a read too. And make sure to let them know how much you appreciate their hard work. A big sloppy thanks to Jeremiah and Jennifer who operate Z Recommends!

I do want to say this. I said this over at Alicia’s too, and she also made a good point. Z listed playtex as fair, because they don’t find issue with BPA in bottles, which does make me angry. That said, the drops ins are safe to use as the liner is #4 and does not touch the bottle. It’s the only thing that the Mini will use once we switched off Dr. Browns. So long as you a. don’t microwave the liner (as it states on the bottle itself, and you obviously should never microwave plastic), and b. only use the liner once. I don’t know of anyone who tries to reuse them, but you shouldn’t. They’re disposables.
I find if that if you do use this system, you can get some cheap glass bottles or a glass measuring cup and use that to microwave formula/breastmilk in.
Just to clarify, Z Recs does list Playtex as fair BECAUSE they have issue with BPA. They rate BPA-containing products poorly even if parts do not come into direct contact with liquids or mouth in order to recommend entirely BPA-free products.
